Here are some ways in which different groups have faced the problem, or propose addressing the problem of global climate change. All place a strong emphasis on reducing the emission of greenhouse gases.
FCCC THE CONVENTION OF THE UNITED NATIONS
The Framework Convention on Climate Change United Nations (FCCC) was signed at the World Summit in 1992 by 162 governments focused specifically on the problem. The main objective of the convention is to stabilize greenhouse gases in the atmosphere, which would prevent dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system. The convention requires all nations to sign the treaty should succeed in reducing their greenhouse gas emissions to 1990 levels by 2000. In the United Kingdom, a program that aims to achieve this objective through the promotion of energy efficiency as a means to reduce the generation of carbon dioxide in all sectors of that nation.
- In power generation plants has been invested in combined heat and power, which uses the heat energy that was previously lost.
- In industry, the savings are specific to each process.
- In the domestic sector will be achieved through improvements in thermal insulation of houses and improving the efficiency of household appliances through better designs and better use, such as lighting.
- In the commercial sector methods to improve efficiency will be achieved by methods very similar to the household.
- Public transport, through improvements in engine technology, better maintenance of engines, comply with speed limits and more discreet use of acceleration and braking.
- For this to come to implement, we need to invest in education and information campaigns, to establish regulations and standards, together with audit, tax and price regulation, economic incentives and disincentives.
RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE SIERRA CLUB
- Improved efficiency of automobiles. Be achieved through better technology, lightening the structure, improvements in engines and transmission, reducing the friction aerodynamic resistance dimimuyendo wheels, etc.
- Accelerate improvements in energy efficiency of industries, residences and commercial establishments and public, through effective policies.
- Stimulate and accelerate research and development of technologies based on energy sources of renewable energy.
- Ending deforestation and encourage reforestation (Glick, 1997)
